hexentric Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 help !! my buddy and i are diving from oregon to do the ptarmagin traverse on july 26th or 27th. We lost or third partner and are having trouble with the car situation. We are hoping to find a local cascadian to meet us somewhere close, maybe darrington or rockport or bellingham, who can followus to the suiattle river trailhead where we drop our car, then drive us up to the cascade river trailhead. This will probably take us at least a few hours, but the rewards will be huge !! we are prepared with cash money, fine oregon whiskey and beer, gold, jewels....whatever your want !! can you help or does anybody have any suggestions ? thanks..... rob Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 who can followus to the suiattle river trailhead where we drop our car I haven't been out in a while, but isn't the suiattle river road still closed? Quote
Tyson.g Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 " Suiattle River PARTIAL CLOSURE not cleared 4/23/2013 Closure to motorized traffic at mile 12 will continue through 2013. Summer road repair work will cause road closures beginning at mile 6 and/or at project sites up to the end of the road. Please check back for more details as they become available. Above mile 12 is open to foot, bicycle and horse travel beyond closure. Please do not block turnaround at gate. ." According to the USDA/Road conditions site as of today. Quote
zloi Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 I talked to a Darrington ranger on the 4th. The Suiattle R. Rd will (finally!) be under construction this summer before and after its closure point at ~mi12. They will be blasting at certain times on certain weekdays so you need to check back OFTEN to see the latest schedule. However, people wanting to do the traditional Ptarmigan route probably already know (having done their research!) that the road to the Downey Ck TH isn't open to vehicles all the way (I've seen motorcycles, but not sure if they're legal). But heck, coming up from OR, what's a few more miles on the boot soles? Quote
