ckohnstamm Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Trip: Alpha and Serratus, Tantalus Range BC - Alpha South Face, Serratus West Couloir AD+ Date: 4/3/2013 Trip Report: We skied around Lake Lovelywater over the weekend, here are a few pictures. The first objective was Alpha Mountain. We took the summer route, with only a slight variation to a couloir that took us higher on the south face. Only limited water ice, and two mixed moves, all simul solo. Summit! Ivory Shoulder was not in, so we skied back down the West Face. Did not have to take the skis off. Next up was Serratus. With the temps soaring, early morning starts were critical. Instead of the straightforward bootpack on the North Face, we climbed the West Couloir to the summit. Nice boot top powder on Serratus North Face. And then the long hike down to the canoe. In addition, I put together a quick video of the trip. [video:vimeo]64684631 Quote
stinkyclimber Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Awesome trip to a seldom visited winter destination. Kudos especially for avoiding the use of any points of aid (especially, the airborne variety). A burly trail. The canoe looks easier than futzing around with the stupid cable car. Quote
