If anybody wants to sell a handheld GPS unit I am in need of one.

I have used the Garmin Etrex line, but am open to other suggestions. Just need simple features; ability to establish waypoints, paths.

any general price range you're looking at? Like...not more than..?

I have a garmin 62csx or whatever it is, slightly older version than the current 62, but with compass and altimeter.

I will probably sit on it for many more years since it gets the job done when I need it and a set of lithium batteries goes a year for me with occasional use for wayfinding and point marking.

BUT, i did test one of the newer ones and they have definitely updated the processors or something, one of my biggest gripes is that my garmin can take an excessive amount of time to re-draw while you are panning around if you are scanning the map and have full topo detail on it. That is slightly frustrating, but not a navigation thing too much since it draws fast when zoomed way in or way out, its the mid level that goes slower. the new ones seemed damn speedy.

In the 50-100 dollar range. Preferably with a black and white screen.

The 62 series are great. If you have a chance to use the new Delorme PN 60 it's a fun tool. With some fancy bells and whistles built in.
