Trogman Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Has anyone ever been climbing on any granite(i think its granite) walls in the Wallowa mountains? South side of the Matterhorn/Sacajawea? Quote
shapp Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Yes, though the peaks you mention are super choss limestonish, the grante is far and not really that great. If you are in NW Oregon, go to Darrington, WA, its closer, if you are in Idaho, go to the Sawtooths, it better. If you live within about 2hrs hours of Enterprise and are looking for an adventure, send me a pm and I can send you in the right direction. Quote
ScaredSilly Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Yes ... what Shapp said. This link might help: http://mountainproject.com/v/matterhorn-west-face-wall/106356964 Quote
Holk Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Good luck on the 'horn. However, I do recall passing beneath what seemed like some intriguing cliffs at the south end of that ridge in the area above Douglas lake, but then again I was probably more focused on my ankles 3rd roll (w/ 8 more coming) after it's first sprain (or more specifically the remedy to such pain offered a few miles out at TG). Anyone know if that rock's any good? Or what those cliffs are called? I know you'd have quite the approach to face, but you could make it a worthwhile trip I imagine. Quote
