genepires Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 not really familiar with DMM cams but maybe someone can educate me. These new demon cams look like a simpler cheaper version of the dragon cams. It looks like a tech friend or a single axle camalot. Is there more to this cam than meets the eye? (other than the webbing) Quote
Coldfinger Posted January 31, 2012 Author Posted January 31, 2012 Well, I didn't like the new Helium Friend as it is very long and hung way down from my harness, and don't really care for the U-stem on the DMM 4cu. I do like how short the stem is on the Dragons (and the extendable sling) as it is both compact in the pack and also doesn't get in the way when racked. Just waiting for the pricing to see if these are a viable option. It looks like they can re-use cam lobes from old 4cu and Tech Friend production, so I'm hoping these will be affordable. Quote
selkirk Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Dragon thumb-stud / slings + the classic DMM cam sizes, finish etc, on a single stem instead of a doublet stem. Doesn't look like anything radicaly new or better (awfully similar to Tech Friends). That said, DMM always put's a nice finish on everything they do and their cams have historically been quite light. I expect I'd be happy to climb on them Quote
