Teh Phuzzy Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Hey Folks, My buddy and I are looking to head up the West Arete route on Constance this weekend. We were thinking about the Red Dike route, but the lack of a topo and beta (outside of the Mountaineers book) is making us hesitant to head around to that route. Anyway, are the rats bad again this year? That seems to have been a problem in that area the last few years. I wasn't planning on bringing 'pons (only an ice axe) shouldn't need'em to get up to Crystal Pass, eh? Thanks in advance, ~Adam Quote
Drederek Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 I was hoping you'd get a response, I haven't been up that way since it burnt last year. My friend Wes thought the trail up to Lake Constance would most likely be a mess. Maybe I'll see ya up there tomorrow as I'll most likely go have a look. Quote
Teh Phuzzy Posted September 24, 2011 Author Posted September 24, 2011 My partner bailed on me so I am trying to get out to the baconwad. Have fun up there. The weather is supposed to be perfect tomorrow. next year... Quote
Crickette Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 I am envious. Is this avalanche canyon on the top left, the finger traverse on the top right, summit on the bottom right? Is the terrible traverse easier with less snow? Thanks. Quote
Drederek Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Yes x 3 and I dunno about the terrible traverse as I've never done it with snow. It was easier than contouring high all the way round above it. There is a lot of 3rd class in the last 1/2 mile to the summit. Quote
