  1. Black Diamond Zion Haul Bag - $160 Portland delivery. No shipping please. New in plastic. Ended up going with a smaller bag.
  2. Lost: Mountain Hardware puffy. Black. Women's XS/S. Misplaced in the darkness at the base of Careno Crag or at Snow Creek Trailhead parking lot. Will gladly compensate with good karma and/or beer. Thanks.
  3. Fantastic photos. Would have loved to see more of the Great Basin. I'm very envious. Attempted the North Bro, approaching from the upper East Fork but was shut down by poor visibility & avalanche concerns. My stomach was in a huge knot that day. Perhaps that is one small advantage to not having one. Cheers to your health & a beautiful Olympic day.
  4. Nice job on the solo. So, are both reachy/hook moves located after the P3 mid belay anchor? Also, can P2 + P3 really be combined with a 60m (w/partner)? Thanks.
  5. Found one mother-of-pearl earring while looking for a good belay spot at the top of Moscow. Smith Rock.
  6. Thanks for the report on the Peregrine Traverse and drive times. The reference on Summitpost to g orton's website appears to be obsolete. Does Acker Rock sometimes re-open early, in June, after its closure for falcon nesting? Been interested in combining a shasta ski and peregrine traverse climb in the same week.
  7. Attending a conference in Vegas and desperately want to climb at Red Rocks. With purchased airplane ticket and legit excuse, my climbing partner just bailed on me. My goal was to lead a few of the 5.6-5.8 classic multi-pitch routes. At this point, if necessary, I would be happy to belay strangers on single pitch sport, all day, surrounded by the red rocks - that's mostly true Have necessary trad gear. Availability: Sept 28-29 + a few other week days/late afternoons

  9. I think there is a place for one tricam on the first pitch Loved the swim in flapjacks as well. Thanks for the trip report.
  10. What about Washington's SE Ridge? Wondering if its 5.7 rating is much more challenging than it sounds, since it's the Olympics? Not completely ready to swing leads on this yet but hoping next year Thanks
  11. Need to climb Constance and Olympus before I can answer that. Drederek, what's your favorite / recommended route on Washington??? Ready to explore other routes besides the standard one.
  12. Thanks. Are two lanes passable or just one? The last time I skied it, the top bowl was worth a few short laps but spring climbers crowded the chute. Yes, fascinating. Supposedly there once was a ski cabin at Flapjack Lakes so I've been curious about touring around the Gladys Divide, playing around Mt Gladys and the Black and White Lakes. Or, approaching from Staircase, climbing over Needle Pass (might as well climb Cruiser) and returning via Mildred Lakes on a multi-day ski tour. Challenging approaches from either direction (I'd certainly lose my way ) and unlikely for the stars to align with perfect avy, weather, etc conditions but fun to dream about. Perhaps this is why the ski cabin never worked out...not worth the maintenance. Also wondered if anyone has skied any of the inner peaks accessed via the Dry Creek Trail? Or approached Cooper Mountain from Mt Rose's backside with skis??
  13. If you are super sensitive to poison oak/ivy, "Tecnu" cream is available to minimize chances of breaking out. They sell products to put on before and after exposure. It used to be hard to find but Fred Meyer might even carry it now.
  14. Watch out for the ones who enjoy pushing rocks off onto unsuspecting climbers...south brother two years ago.
