Gaucho Argentino Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 Please, does anyone know if Assgard Pass is still snow covered? trying to save some weight on ice axe / crampons... Thanks! GA Quote
BootsandPants Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 The lower half is still snow covered. Upper half is rock as of last night. We didn't use pons, but the axe was a must. Quote
jfs1978 Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 Not sure what pass BootsandPants was in... As of almost two weeks ago there were two patches of snow to cross on the trail, both of which were completely fine with no sharp, pointy stuff. The trail was essentially completely clear. Have fun GA! Quote

Have fun GA! Guess I didn't follow the "trail". It was dark and the snow was easier to descend quickly than rocky bits. So I guess you don't need the axe then Quote
luvshaker Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 I can confirm no axe/pons needed for Assgourd. But if it froze overnight the two little snow patches would be more interesting to cross. Up in the high lakes area is about 75% snow, and my sneakers didn't keep out the moisture so well.... Quote
Gaucho Argentino Posted August 9, 2011 Author Posted August 9, 2011 Thank y'all for the info, Buddies... weight saved :-)) Quote
