dberdinka Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 Anyone been up there...today? Last year it good to go in March, this year seems like lots of snow in the foothills. Condition report much appreciated! Quote
genepires Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 drove by today. Was covered with a dusting of snow in the morning. Looked all dry by the afternoon. No clue as to the actual dryness of rock. Quote
Wallstein Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 I was up there today as well as Thursday. Pretty good to go. First pitch of DH was still wet but the corner up higher looked dry. 2nd pitch of GD looked wet still as well as the roof/corner pitch. TC looked dry. I think the 2nd pitch chimney had some water in it but i doubt it would matter much. The LTW was pretty damp when i walked by in the morning but looked way better in the evening. Quote
stevetimetravlr Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Wallstein, I know you're a animal, but when that second pitch chimney of TC is wet, I get a little gripped up in there its so slippery. Quote
Wallstein Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 ya I guess it can be kinda tricky up near the end. I've probably done that pitch close to 15 times so its gotten easier. And after living and guiding in Yosemite for 5 years I became pretty comfortable on slippery chimneys. Quote
dberdinka Posted March 21, 2011 Author Posted March 21, 2011 The wind was howling and the skys were threatening but the UTW was as dry as you could hope for on the last day of winter. By afternoon the LTW was pretty much dry as well. Very few people around... Quote
Wallstein Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 Way to get after it up there Darren! And nice to finally meet you. Quote
