ahartig Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 So being a poor climber, I only have one 60m rope. I have been reading alot and everything says 2 ropes. What is the possibility of climbing Center Stage with just 1? Quote
genepires Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 (edited) While I have not been on it (just walked by the base) I could make a conjecture. If you are good enough and confident enough to be able to do get to the top, I think you can walk off climbers left. Edited June 23, 2010 by genepires Quote
Blake Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 Gene's right. Scramble down climber's left of the route. If encountering branches with goat fur, you are on the right track. Quote
ahartig Posted June 23, 2010 Author Posted June 23, 2010 Yea I read something about a scramble down instead of climbing. I think that it could be an option. thanks guys Have you heard anything about the weather up there in July? Doable? snow? Quote
ahartig Posted June 23, 2010 Author Posted June 23, 2010 I have also read about the gear set of nuts and cams. What should my sizing be.? Quote
shapp Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 (edited) People have been out there several times this year. You need 2 ropes to rap from fixed belays. Note that for the most part, newer long routes around Darrington, pitches are put up with 60 m and the preference is generally to make pitches as long as possible given good belay stances. 30 seconds on google: http://www.mountainproject.com/v/washington/darrington/106257989 http://www.mountaineers.org/nwmj/08/081_Shorts2.html buy the updated rattle and slime CD, haven't seen it but I understand and assume there should be some good info and probably topo of the route.
