Buckaroo Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 Looks like the road to Mt Garfield is still closed before the bridge http://gismaps.kingcounty.gov/roadalert/ Was wondering if anyone has taken this forest road to bypass the closure? 47.521238,-121.62029 starting off at the Mt Si road it looks like it connects to the middle fork road after the bridge. rock-ice Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 I think I know that road that road. It hits the old CCC road, which I believe, is just a trail now, and then continues up South Bessemer on logging roads. I don't know of it ever reconnecting with the Middle Fork Road though, which probably isn't an issue since its gated at the MFR anyways . However, if you are thinking about biking in this might be an option worth exploring. Quote
mountainsloth Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 I have been out there many times in the past six months and it is open till it splits off of the Taylor River right at the base of the SW corner of Garfield. From there it is a semi short walk and/or bike ride. This is right after a bridge and maybe 1/2 mile from the main Trail head. I think the closure you are looking at is option 1 of 2 heading into the Middle Fork. I think it is closed permanently but it doesn't really matter. Just take the low road (left). Quote
johnson Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 The road is gated anyways. Fun terrain to ride the mountain bike on though. Quote
