sweatinoutliquor Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Did you guys hear that a snowmobiler was killed in Paulina...? It was last weekend I think. Caught in an avy... There's another vid from the same day of a pretty good slide at Pelican on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijpH7KuauE8 It's a little rated "R" in the beginning for language. Careful out there peeps! Quote
ScaredSilly Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Every winter here in Oootah, a dumb fuck motor head or two to three gets caught in a slide from their high mark antics. The best one so far was from the guy who got slammed by a slide trigger by his partner. He held strong and filmed the whole thing right up to and including when he got buried. What amazes me is that these jokers park their sleds and the bottom of the hill in the run out zone to watch. All of it is Darwinism. Quote
RokIzGud Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 (edited) Its not just snowmobilers that get killed in anvlanches... Backcountry skiers, people snowshoeing and yes... Even climbers. Im sure you wouldnt call a group of climbers with a party above them who let a slab off and got the lower party killed in an avalanch a "dumb f*** rock head". We all like the challege of going up, some not green-er than others. This sounds ruder than i mean it too, sorry. Edited January 11, 2010 by RokIzGud Quote
ScaredSilly Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 I get your point and perhaps I am jaded. But people need have some intelligence when traveling in avy terrain. Yeah, we all do stupid things. Most of the time we get a way with it. Sometimes we do not - at that point we are a dumb fuck. Hopefully not a dead dumb fuck. And yes, I have been dumb fuck before. RokIzGud Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Well you do have a point though... Im flipflopin i know but with snowmobiles its so easy to get into the backcountry and do something stupid. Snowmobiles can give people with no outdoor experiance easy access to remote parts of the outdoors. Pluse a lot of people who have never rode a snowmobile can go out and rent the most powerful sled for prety cheap with just a sign of a paper. That can get people into a lot of trouble. I was being a bit biassed because i am from Cle ELum and have rode with many experianced riders. Also half the instructors in my SAR avy courses are hardcore riders. Alot of searchs we have had have been snowmobile riders but that goes the same about climbers. Quote
