rocky_joe
Seeing as I will be out until mid to late March I am wondering if the North Face is usually climbable that late in the season. The majority of TRs here and around the web are from Nov-Jan but given that I am just hoping that there are a bunch of shy climbers getting up it in march who have abstained from spraying about their awesomeness. Please feel free to share your early spring NF experiences/info here.
cbcbd
When it was skied/boarded it was in spring (may and june) and it still involved hucks for ice cliffs and shrunds. If there is snow and the temps are cold I say just go for it.
ivan
march can be fine - temps are the most important - don't wander up if its insane windy or above freezing
BDEL
I was planning on heading up to hit the NF sometime this week. I know that it hasn't snowed in over a week, so I'm wondering about how the conditions are going to be, basically, will the ice be all intact, or will some of it have melted out? Thanks for all your help, I just haven't ever been over there before.
el jefe
temps along I-84 were in the 30s today and in the teens along highway 35, so i'd be very surprised if anything up on hood NF has melted.
Maine-iac
It was in the teens with up to gale force winds which means that the wind chill would freeze anything not already frozen in minutes. All of T-line was on wind hold today.
