Frikadeller Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 So, as I am finally healing up from a ripped achilles tendon in my right leg, I took a little hike on Mount Hood. Shit I am out of shape from this injury. While looking up at the Wy'east, I started wondering. Has the Black spider on the east side ever been climbed? I know some people have tried, but has there ever been an actual ascent of this portion of the mountain? It looks like one of the most suicidal routes on the mountain. No, I an not considering it my self, just wondering if it has been done. (I know some freaks got lost and rapped it a few years ago, but that's all I have ever heard) Quote
TMO Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 I have been wondering the same thing. To my knowledge no one has climbed the Black Spider yet... sure is an obvious line, until you see it in person, then it's scary! Quote
Joe_Poulton Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 They've been climbed...room for more. I can't find the site with topos yet. But here's an old thread. http://cascadeclimbers.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/609509/1 Quote

billbob Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Wayne's the Black Spider Man. Pretty sure Kevin Russell did it, too, right after climbing Yocum Ridge. John Scurlock recently took some incredible high res arial pics of the BS area. Both summer and winter seasons. The best will be published in a new book as soon as possible, meaning prolly next spring. Quote
