Get the Wa Ice guide. There are areas that can come in, especially near the Mt. Baker Hwy, but they are not consistent. If your jonesing... get up to the seracs.

I second the Coleman seracs. Had some fun times up there. It's not the best, but you get to swing your tools. The hillside next to the Coleman has been known to freeze in October. Some of most fun ice climbing I have done. Though I'm not sure what the road condition getting to the TH is right now. North face of Observation Rock in Mt. Rainier NP. I've been up there before in late August/Early Sept. and it is a fun glacier ice climb.

i'm stoked to check out the seracs once the road opens, i remmember seeing them a few times on my way up helio - cool seracs indeed. is it a norm for people to solo boulder style them?

road status updated today:

Until further notice:

Glacier Creek Road, FS 39, off of Mt. Baker Highway is closed to all vehicular access.

*Unauthorized Vehicles Beyond the Road Closure Will Be Towed.

There are other seracs to climb at, depending on your local.

It's not entirely uncommon to solo them, but if you're learning to ice climbing... probably not recommended.

Glacier Creek Road will open Thursday (Sept. 3rd) afternoon.

It will then have closures the 8th-10th for paving (ie. not closed but cant pass while work is being done).

After that...free as can be!

Access to the seracs and Colfax back to status quo
