jaydub624 Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Planning on doing the the Hotlam-Botam ridge route next weekend. Any beta is appreciated (camp sites, route variations, terrain conditions, timeframe, etc...). Many thanks in advance. Quote
billclimbs Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Put a mini TR a few posts down. This is a fun route. Lots of camping all over 9600-10600 if you are planning a two day trip. There should be water to filter by now. Enjoy!! Quote
YocumRidge Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 We will be climbing the Hotlum-Bolum ridge this weekend: myself (PDX) and two others from Cali. I guess see you up there. We will be camping for one night at the higher camp - Marine camp, if I remember right and next day after the summit, descending all way down to the trailhead. Quote
jaydub624 Posted June 18, 2009 Author Posted June 18, 2009 billclimbs - thanks for the info and the mini TR on the Hotlum-Bolum route. A few questions: did you do any glacier climbing, or just stay on the ridge? Did you see any crevasses on the glaciers? Thanks. Quote
billclimbs Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 sorry did'nt get back to you earlier. you're probably up there but anyhow we did all glacier...much easier to travel. you will be above the shrund (or zigging between the parts of it) depending on what you choose ..otherwise no other OpeN crevasses Quote
YocumRidge Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 O, yes, there were crevasses and sketchy looking snow bridges and quite a few of them on both Bolum and Hotlum glaciers! This was the reason our alpine start was moved to 5 a.m. so that by the time you get to the area the sun will be out to see them! Quote
