shaoleung Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 I'm looking at investing in some ball nuts for harder/thinner trad lines. I am comparing Trango's Ballnutz and Camp Ball Nuts. The only real difference is that the Camp #1 appears to be significantly stronger than the Trango #1. What makes the Camp #1 so much stronger? I assume the standards for kN ratings are pretty standard, right? Quote
phillygoat Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 As far as I know, they are made in the same factory. Trango lists the #1 as rated to 4.5kn. Camp doesn't list specific ratings, but the header suggests 8kn. Finally, Mountain Gear lists Ballnutz as: Strength (kN): 4.5 (1, blue); 4.5 (2, red); 8 (3, gold); 8 (4, green); 8 (5, purple). For the definitive answer to all things Ball Nut/Ballnutz/Loweball ask Joe (JosephH) here. Quote
JosephH Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 They are made by the same Korean company and are simply branded differently. These are reasonable, but anyone interested in ballnuts should set up a search on ebay for the superior Lowe/Byrne versions of which a couple are up now... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=280332692333 Quote
spotly Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Anything in particular that makes the Lowe/Bryne versions better? Since we're on the subject..I've used my a lot but have never fallen on one nor used one for aid. Are they very difficult to clean once weighted? Quote
JosephH Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Some discussion from a thread I did over on rc.com: Careful consideration when putting your balls on the line... Quote
