S1W Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 Looks like it has been sunny all day in Leavenworth, and the forecast looks good for the weekend. However, the web cam only shows the tops of the mountains in the Icicle (which are snowy). Can anyone who lives over there make any educated guesses as to how dry some of the Icicle crags will be this weekend? Any chance that Pearly Gates will dry out by Sunday? Thanks! Quote
ryanb Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 Perly gates, no chance. They don't get sun until late afternoon this time of year. I looked up at them last weekend and the right side still had ice. the left side might be dryish but you would freeze your ass off. You should be fine on south facing stuff (most popular crags, buttresses and boulders between carino crag and JY crags had climbable spots last weekend) Quote
AR_Guy Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 I was out there yesterday. Clamshell cave and Playground point were great. There was still enough moisture in the soil so that it wasn't a complete dustbowl. Very nice conditions. Quote
Crillz Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 I wouldn't go until the fall - there's ticks out! Quote
shaoleung Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 Just got back from a few days. The weather is incredible. Pearly Gates is wet wet wet. Snow patches all over the hillside and on top of the rock. We climbed at Duty Dome and Warrior Wall today. No snow anywhere on that side. 8 mile campground - most sites snow free. Look out for the enormous dog sh*t$ though. Quote
