moonrover Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 [Cross-posted with North Cascades Forum] Calling all Bellinghammers! I'm putting together a plan for a new climbing gym in the Ham. To get the bank loan, however, I need to prove there is demand for one. (Yeah, I know, good luck to me in this 'economic climate'). This means solid numbers, which is where you come in. I have made a survey and am trying to get as many filled out as possible. I know, I hate surveys just as much as you do, but unfortunately I have to do this. If you are interested, either for or against, please partake and share the link with your friends. Only people actually living in, around, or about to move to Whatcom/Bellingham should respond. Be nice please! http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=l5uSsVE4tFV1hMFEgd3YeQ_3d_3d Obviously I am only in the planning stages, and if I can't see that there is a strong enough demand to pay the bills, I won't be able to do it. Any helpful support, feedback, etc is appreciated. Thanks!! -moon Quote
Wakaranai Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 Thats great, I really hope you make it work. B-ham needs a good gym and it seems there would be enough climbers around to support it. The YMCA sucks, the U has good bouldering but the climbing routes are lame. I hope if you do get it going that your design resembles that of the Cliffhanger gym in Canada and not these pannel style systems you see at the previous two mentioned gyms. Id buy a pass. -Brandon Quote
aussie69 Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Your a god send. Every where else just kinda stinks, and Westerns gym seems to be over packed with ego pumped hormone enraged plastic pullers that don't understand that climbing is supposed to be FUN! Best of wishes to you and if the bank turns you down perhaps we could rally outside their office until they lend you the cash. ~cheers and best wishes~ Quote
moonrover Posted February 16, 2009 Author Posted February 16, 2009 I'd like to thank everyone who has taken the time to fill out the survey and pass it along to their friends. The feedback has been great. I'll be pestering people with a paper version this weekend. If you see me around, come say hi! If you see any in shops or cafes, take a few and get people around you to fill them out. The more numbers I have, the better! Cheers, m Quote
yeoman Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 was wondering what if anything happened with this... appears not much as you still get the same list of crappy gyms in B-ham. a nice gym would be sweet. Quote
Twiggs Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 I met a guy a couple of weeks back at clayton beach who told me he was ready to make an offer on a building on kansas street, I forget his name and the name of the gym though. Hoping to hear something about it soon. Quote
