G-spotter
Trip: Nodoubt - To base of North Face Date: 1/25/2009 Trip Report: Jesse, Graham, Marc and I left Chilliwack at 5 AM on Sunday with half-baked plans to drive Jesse's truck all the way to Depot Creek and make a one-day run up the north face of Nodoubt. Road was blocked by avvy debris a few kms down Chilliwack Lake from the campground; we started hiking around 7. Reached the beaver pond around 9:30 and the base of the face around 11 AM. At this point thoughts of an all-nighter and questions about snow stability in the higher bowl led to the decision to turn around. In hindsight this would have been better as an overnighter with a bivy near the road end. We also probably would have been faster had we just decided to solo the de Jong route from the get go instead of lug a rack along with hopes of something new. Depot Creek valley is absolutely beautiful in the winter btw. This is a zoom on the upper, interesting part of Depot. The lower 2/3 of the face are not really of climbing interest but will probably get 2-planked sometime sooner or later. Gear Notes: All gear stayed in pack. Bring planks if planning to slide. Approach Notes: 11 km of snow-covered road, somewhat postholey in places
