Dane Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Shit it is still only Nov. and already among many many others, Nemisis, Replicant, Polar Circus, Borgeau Right, Murchinson and Wild Thing freed on Chephren 24 hrs car to car, all have been climbed. Amazing! Bunch of CC.com locals up there for the long weekend now. Be fun for us slackers to read the new trip reports. Quote
G-spotter Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Wild Thing freed on Chephren 24 hrs car to car nope... Day 1: car to a tent bivy on the the rib between the two couloirs on the lower half of the mountain (car to bivy 6.5 hours). Day two: left bivy at 6:15 a.m.; summit at 9:15 p.m.; we then rappelled the route, collecting our bivy gear on the way and made it back to the highway at 6:15 a.m. (bivy to summit to car 24 hours Quote
Dane Posted November 29, 2008 Author Posted November 29, 2008 Ya, I did get in a bit of a hurry earlier today...easy to get excited about the conditions and such great efforts by all. Chephren was exceptional. Walsh has built up quite a tic list over the last few years, with obviously more yet to come! Jon Walsh sez: from Gadd's website The Wild Thing, Mt. Chephren - Possible FFA? Wild indeed! Jon Simms and I were on it the last two days and found the route to be in excellent condition with lots of ice (although always on the thin side) and super fun climbing the entire way. The A3 pitch went at solid M7 and we both free climbed the entire route. There were many sustained pitches of M5, M6, and WI 3-5. Pretty much every pitch was at least a little runout, but there was always just enough gear to proceed. (bivy to summit to car 24 hours). An amazing route, that totally exceded my expectations with both its quality and amount of superb pitches. A strong party could definitely send in a big day! Quote
