tvashtarkatena Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 Which is the biggest threat to Americans now? McCain is clearly a war junky, both from his past voting and statements about how to handle present and future crisis. By his own admission, he knows nothing about economics, nor is he interested in the subject. His economic advisors are rabid deregulators; fringe thinkers at best. Obama, on the other hand, will choose to focus militarily on Afghanistan, where the bad guys actually are. The rest of the world wants to engage with him; and is just plain afraid of McCain, which they consider to be just another incarnation of Bush. Domestically, he's well versed in economics and is surrounded by some of the best minds in that area around. Who's better for the country going forward? Quote
joblo7 Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 if mc- cain gets in, things gets 5% worse, wars, dereg, 'patriot acts' etc, etc if obama gets in it gets 3 % better in all aspects. neither will hold much power. perc error poss is +- 5% Quote
tvashtarkatena Posted September 29, 2008 Author Posted September 29, 2008 I don't agree at all. The rest of the world funds us. They want Obama, not McCain. Maintaining international investor confidence means the difference between our economic survival (tenuous as it will be) and collapse. Our choice of president will play a huge role in that confidence. If McCain is elected, I'd have some gold stashed somewhere safe and a big 'victory' garden alread in place. Quote
joblo7 Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 my main point is that 'us presidency" is not what it is cracked up to be. like jimmy carter said:" i got a big realisation , when i got to the oval office and started giving orders and nothing happened." i'm paraphrasing. jfk actually tried to rein in the fed res bank and war machine and we know what happened. financing wars is the biggest business on the planet. the banks baby. the privately owned fed res bank. wall st. the world bank.wjc. the carlysle group, haliburton. oil.diamond gold.those are the real planetary rulers, right now. country lines are disappearing.one big market where business makes the rules to make the blind 'rulers" stronger.they are very close to total control.of the money etc. fear is actually making YOU see things their way. you are afraid of directly confronting them . 'cause they will kill ya! or take your car away. you have the tools to see straight , use them! Quote

'cause they will kill ya! or take your car away. you have the tools to see straight , use them! The Carter days are long over. With our huge debt, the presidency, which codifies not only how we see ourselves but how other countries see us, is more important than ever to the international psychology that determines whether or not the rest of the world will continue to fund us or cut bait. Your focusing on the president's statutory power, not his 'star' power, which, after all, has a much, much greater impact on all of us. Edited September 29, 2008 by tvashtarkatena Quote
