rob Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 So, my 7 yo son and I were discussing politics tonight. Specifically, we were discussing Senator Obama's position on various issues. "What's a senator," he asked. "Well, that's a person who's job it is to come up with new laws." "I think he made a mistake, Dad. Why would anyone want to be President? The President doesn't get to do anything cool. When I grow up I want to be a senator and take away all the taxes." "But, how will the government get any money? How will they build roads, and pay soldiers?" I asked. "Easy. The soldiers can just keep the loot they get in the war," he replied. I laughed. "Well, what if it's peacetime. How would you pay them?" He looked at me confused. "Why would we pay for soldiers if there's no war? Can't they get other jobs?" Quote
