Torin Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 Heading out to Three Sisters Wilderness next week from East Coast. Can anyone give me a weather update for the area? Snow on ground? Also, NF website mentions seasonal closure of Hwy 242 on Nov 1-does this mean the entire hwy or just sections of it? Thanks, Torin Quote
luvshaker Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 Don't even worry about 242, it's definately not the fastest way in. Look up Pole Creek trailhead on the east side out of the town of Sisters. You should be able to drive to the trailhead. Perhaps post on "oregon" forum to find out more about that. I think there is patchy snow around 5 thousand feet with a small pack above 6000. Upper reaches of the mountains the ridges will be bare with bowls filling in. Crust should be pretty hard on southern exposures after lots of sun the past week and a half. Quote
skeletor Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 (edited) Weather looks good for the next 5 days or so. Highs in the 50s, sunny, not much precip forecast. Lows below freezing. Bring a winter bag. There's snow on the peaks, if you're planning on summitting, but if you're just out for a nice walk/camp, you might not encounter too much. As for next week? Who knows? You can check www.tripcheck.org for road closures, and they have some web cams that will show you outside conditions at various passes. Enjoy! Edited October 31, 2007 by skeletor Quote
