Bigtree Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 I was noodling around on the Pieps website (http://www.pieps.com) and noticed that they released a firmware upgrade (5.0) for the DSP this past August '07. Given where I live, the only option I have to get the upgrade is to ship my device off to a Pieps service centre which is a hassle and will cost me some loot. Does anyone know if the upgrade can be obtained via other means (e.g., website or disk)? Quote
PaulB Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 Does anyone know if the upgrade can be obtained via other means (e.g., website or disk)? I doubt it. I had my DSP upgraded last year by the local Pieps distributor and was able to watch the whole process. It requires some special software and a data cable that plugs into the earphone jack. Quote
PaulB Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 (edited) I contacted the local Pieps distributor, and he says that if you already have the 4.0 firmware, the only reason you'd want to upgrade to 5.0 is if you are going to use your DSP with Pieps' new "iProbe". Avy gear is getting way too techy. Edited October 12, 2007 by PaulB Quote
cj001f Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 Spend the $20 and ship it off to Liberty Mountain. They'll also do a check to make sure it's in full running order, which is worth a few $$. I do wish more shops would perform the service, shipping out your beacon is a PIA Quote
