Anyone know what the conditions of the Goat Rocks peaks are around mid-October? I'm contemplating trying to get up Old Snowy and Ives either the weekend of the 14th or the 20th.

I try to get in there the 1st or 2nd weekend in Oct. After that it's an even bet that it'll be raining.

If it's not raining it's awesome in there that time of year. Cold at night so no bugs and there are usually less people then as well.

I've done a few weekends in there hitting Old Snowy, traversing the McCall gl to Ives, then tagging Curtis Gilbert the next day.

I've been into the GRWA many times when I used to live in Crackima. September thru October is a wonderful time to be in there, as jaee previously mentioned, and for exactly those reasons. You'll have a great time.

There's generally a pretty good fall weather window from Labor Day to about mid-October or so (Indian Summer). At least, that's been my repeated experience over the past 10 years or so... YMMV.
