I did a search and found no info so I'll ask.

Anyone out there have any beta on the performance of the Cloud pack by Kelty?

I know Kelty basically sucks overall, but it looks like this one got a bit of brain power geared towards climbers. I'm still skeptical though ... thus I ask.

A friend of mine has the Flight, which I believe is nearly identical to the Cloud. It looks like a very versatile pack, and his only complaint is about the color. Don't believe the claimed weight, thats with none of the bags on the frame. You also shouldn't take the word of a friend of a moron. tongue.gif" border="0

I am a member of the AAC and I just received an ad from Kelty offering AAC members a discount on thier Cloud Packs.

What is blowing my mind is that the ad says that the Cloud 4000/Vapor 45 only weighs 1 lb. Only 1lb.? The Cloud 4500/Cloud 60 is a mere 1 lb 2 oz.

That REALLY seems light, like too light. I could fart and blow the pack material away. It says they have a frame sheet and all kinds of features. So how do they get down to 1 lb.?

Has anyone actually used these packs? confused.gif" border="0

Rod,

Spectra fabric, no metal for the frame, the weights listed are for the main bag/frame/belt only...basically the lightest way you could configure the pack...i.e. all the add-on pockets, top-lid, etc are removed. The spectra is really thin and light, and it's the reason those things are white...the single worst color you could ask for in an alpine pack, because they can't dye the stuff. I think they even use a kevlar thread to stitch the thing together.

Although the Cloud is light, I've got an idea for an even lighter pack that is WPB, cheap, etc. Thinking of pursuing it into the design phase anyway.
