MountaingirlBC Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 Here's a few I have read and enjoyed in order of how much I liked them: Regions of the Heart: The Triumph and Tragedy of Alison Hargreaves by David Rose and Ed Douglas Savage Summit: The True Stories of the First Five Women Who Climbed K2, the World's Most Feared Mountain by Jennifer Jordan Facing The Extreme: One Woman's Story Of True Courage And Death-Defying Survival In The Eye Of Mt. McKinley's Worst Storm Ever by Ruth A. Kocour Mountaineering Women: Stories by Early Climbers by David Mazel Clouds from Both Sides by Julie Tullis & Peter Gillman Just a tip for buying books... you can often get books stupid cheap used on Amazon.com. That's how I buy most of my books these days... textbooks especially! Quote
CircleOfWillis Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 "K2 One Woman's Quest For The Summit" - Heidi Howkins Quote
chelle Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 "Tents in the Clouds" by Monica Jackson and Elizabeth Stark is a good read about women in the 50s who did Himalayan exploration. "Nanda Devi, the Tragic Expedition" by John Roskelly is another good read about Willi Unsoeld's daughter and the expedition to climb the peak after which she was named. I also liked the Alison Hargraves book BC mountain girl mentioned. Quote
