Mt Adams south side access

I am looking at hiking the Mazama glacier route mid June, and would like to take the road to Bird Creek meadows instead of Cold Springs. Anyone have any beta on the roads to these two spots?

I believe the Yakima Nation does not allow access to that area until July 1. Don't forget to procure a permit down in Glenwood.

thanks for the info, I might have to call the ranger station, I check the fed site and says it is now open to 2 miles past the shelter. fingers crossed
