Adventure Center Routesetter Description

 

- Passion for climbing

- Ensure that safety is a top priority when setting and for climbers using routes/boulder problems

- Creativity in designing routes/boulder problems

- Keep work areas contained and organized

- Wash/organize holds and return all holds and equipment to proper storage areas

- Perform routine safety inspections on all equipment – notify Adventure Programming Director and Lead Routesetter of any safety concerns

- Strive to set high quality routes of all grades, for every member

- Ability to lift 50lbs

- Demonstrated abilities with rope safety equipment* and techniques** for all routesetting situations

- Safe ladder use, carrying, and storage

- Experience with climbing holds, bolts, wrenches, their use and limitations

- Willingness to modify routes/boulder problems based upon Lead Routesetter and peer/member feedback

- Solid understanding of climbing movement and body limitations

- Current with industry trends, standards and practices

- Actively promote new routes/boulder problems and competitions/climbing socials to members

- Know and consistently enforce all Adventure Center policies

- Be knowledgeable about all Adventure Center programs

- Be thorough and accurate in completing all required paperwork and forms

- Attend required staff meetings

- Other responsibilities as assigned by Adventure Programming Director and Lead Routesetter

 

 

 

 

* Gri-gri, ascenders, step-aiders, daisy chains, carabiners, floor anchors, bolt hangers, harnesses, fifi-hooks, etc.

** Building safe anchors with floor anchors, wall hangers, combinations of the two, fixing lines, aid soloing, etc.
