Dave_Schuldt Posted December 18, 2006 Posted December 18, 2006 MarkL and I went up there today and had a nice tour. To avoid the snowmos we headed up a closed road,(the first one with a palnted in... sign must have missed a turn 'cause we wound up at a dead end. Went back down a bit and went up trough a clear cut that got us to another road that took us down and accross Rocky Run Creek. We then went up another clear cut that got us to the road higher up. We then worked our way up to near the summit of Margret. From the top we could see nice runs in the clear cuts on the east facing slopes of Rampart Ridge also nice runs on the east side of Margret. Dropped down into the steep trees on the west side of Margret. Great turns in the old groath then we hit some wind crust in the open slot through the trees. Skied the clear cuts down to the lower road then took the main snowmo road out. Taking the wrong way up cost us some time but we now have the area scoped out and will do it right the next time. We will go farther along the summit ridge to get some longer runs in the trees. This area has some good runs if you don't mind clear cuts, highway noise and snowmos. Most to the snowno traffic goes east so Rampart Ridge and Margret shouldn't be too bad. Clear cuts need some more snow. Good place to go when the avi danger is high. Snow park pass requird or it's a LONG walk from the Hyak parking lot. Pictures later. Quote
Dave_Schuldt Posted December 19, 2006 Author Posted December 19, 2006 Nice run on east face. After all the clear cuts some real forest Nice views. Good runs The slot above the clear cut. This is a blast to ski and is longer than it looks. Quote
