CrazyFlattlander Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 Up coming press conference. Minutes away.
Ruedi Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 Another press conference soon. You would think the guys in the media would have a scanner and would have found the tac freq's being used. They didn't ask if anyone would spend the night at the summit.
Ice-Ninja Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 I don't think the talking heads recognize probing.
TTT Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 CNN, and KATU video feeds sometimes better than KGW for news conferences. I had a hard time with KGW today.
zl27 Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 Fox mentioned they are monitoring the radio traffic. I am sure CNN is too. Â Press conference cancelled. That scares me.

Hoping4Today Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 Gerry Tiffany - climbers went into cave, found ice picks, sleeping bags, rope, other equipment - cave was empty as far as people, however.
Big_Mac Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 Climbers found cave, no people but some gear
Ruedi Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 Gary Tiffany (spelling). Found two ice axes, sleeping bag, etc. No people. Damn They self rescued up to the summit and then where. They would have taken their stuff to self rescue.
Hoping4Today Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 Tiffany, continued - Â Yes, this was the cave we thought Kelly James would be in based on cell phone info.
Hoping4Today Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 Tiffany, continued - Â Still have footprints to follow. Footprints headed up, then disappeared. Â One sleeping bag, 2 ice axes, some rope. Cannot tell how recently someone was there.
Lambone Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 what the fuck...why would they leave their bags and tools...doesn't make sense.
Ruedi Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 OK. This guy is not going to say much because they need to talk to the families. Don't speculate but this is where Kelley James should be and he obviously left. They know more but probably won't release it until later. Leaving the summit speaks volumes.
Big_Mac Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 I will bet that this is not good news- notifications?????
MauiHawk Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 Realisitically, can there be much hope for at least James at this point (assuming that was his cave)? This sucks.
Lambone Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 if they weren't in that snowcave then it changes everything. they could be anywhere.
Phil Jones Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 You can bet if any of the three climbers is found alive, the media will be whooping and hollering about it. Â Otherwise, expect a very delayed report due to next of kin notification. Â Â
