Dru Posted June 13, 2001 Posted June 13, 2001 McLane's SW BC alpine select is finally out. 158 climbs on a multitude of peaks. Lots of detail and many new routes detailed that only a dedicated Canadian Alpine Journal reader will have heard about before. The chehalis...Chilliwack Valley...anderson river range...tantalus...old settler and exotic remoter peaks. I'm getting a free contributors copy so don't believe my recommendation too much, grab a copy and see for yourself. I think its about $30 at the CoOp Quote
erik Posted June 13, 2001 Posted June 13, 2001 SHAMLESS PLUG! IS THE RUMOR TRUE THAT IT IS PRINTED ON RECYCLABLE SMOKING PAPERS!? SO DRUL, WHY DON'T YOU TELL US HOW MANY TIMES YOU APPEAR IN THE BOOK. I KNOW YOU'VE COUNTED! Quote
Dru Posted June 13, 2001 Author Posted June 13, 2001 Erik, I don't know, I have only seen the advanced proofs. My copy (along with the 2001 updated Squamish guide) should be arriving in the mail in a plain brown wrapper any day now. As for the smoking paper thing I think KM wants the guidebook to be a bit more durable than that. And your "zero tolerance" government would probably block it at the border if it was true! Quote
verticalswamp Posted June 15, 2001 Posted June 15, 2001 Fortunately, Dru does not actually "appear" in the book, which should help sales dramatically, although McLane seems to have failed to mention that on the cover... Mention of him, however, is rife. Despite this the book stands up quite well. Quote
Dru Posted June 15, 2001 Author Posted June 15, 2001 I thought there was going to be a picture of me climbing the slab pitch on Duc A L'Orange?? Quote
verticalswamp Posted June 15, 2001 Posted June 15, 2001 Maybe it is you, but surprisingly I don't have an image of your ass permanently etched in my memory. Quote
