Lambone Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Have any of you ladies ever gone to this? My wife and her friend are thinking about it, but it's really expensive. Wondering if it's worth it, or just any general feedback. Thanks Quote
goatboy Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 I know Kim Reynolds, one of the principal organizers, and have nothing but positive things to say about her..and I've always heard great reviews of the clinic -- having said that, I'm not a lady and I've never participated in the clinic. Quote
Dechristo Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Syudla and I happened upon Ouray one weekend when Chicks With Picks were holding a clinic. The wimmens were being instructed by the top female climbers in the sport. All seemed to be having a great time; in part, due to the absence of men. I think it's a great way for women to learn to excell in the sport (and climbing in general) as the participants learn techniques not predominant on upper body strength. I took an ice climbing clinic from Kim Reynolds and learned techniques that improved my climbing and immediately extended the limits of my stamina. There was a clinic being held by Jack Tackle on my left (Syudla was in that one) and a clinic held by Conrad Anker on my right. Initially, I was jealous of the participants in the other clinics, but soon realized Kim was at least as qualified as the others in WI climbing instruction. I recommend participation without any hesitation for my part. Quote
