WMI will recognize WMA and SOLO certs which are current, and WMI certs which are within the 1 year "grace period".

I am all about helping out our sponsors, however these are one week courses. I cannot miss work. Anyone know of an evening class type course?

 

WMA offers a WAFA and WAFA -> WFR bridge course that does not take a full week. It's not entirely evenings and weekends, but doesn't require a full week to go that route and you can space the two courses out.

I get mine every two years from NOLS WMI here in the Tri-Cities. The local climbing/hiking club subsidizes the course for members and lodges the instructors in our homes to help keep our costs down. I am extrememly satisfied with the WMI course, otherwise I wouldn't drop that much coin to them every two years.

For those of you seriously interested, the Everett Mountaineers with Remote Medical Int. will be sponsoring a WFR Course starting in November. It is set up so that a working 9-5 person can attend it without having to take time off from their job.

I just took the WFR course offered by Wilderness Medical Associates and hosted by Rescue Specialists in Leavenworth, WA. It was excellent.
