archenemy Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Excuse me ya'll, but how is this any different from talking about how you would be sure to put a knot in at the end of your rope on a thread about a girl who died rapping? Not that discussion isn't good--but just some food for thought. RIP to those women and their families. So sorry for their suffering. Quote
ClimbingPanther Posted July 14, 2006 Author Posted July 14, 2006 Point taken, archenemy, and you're right. I am too comfortable with the ever changing nature of forum threads. But I got my opinion out before the rebuke! Yeah! But in all seriousness, I'm sure everyone on this board agrees with the sentiment that this is a terrible tragedy and we all stand with the family and friends and to a lesser extent feel their pain and loss of innocence. mle Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 When I first heard this story I made the assumption that there must have been something sketchy about the women... not a fair assumption at all, but perhaps one to help me believe that this sort of aparently "random" violence wouldn't *really* happen to normal or good people, especially those out doing a wholesome activity. Turns out I knew the younger of the deceased, in addition to another of the (not involved in the homicide) sisters. These women were vibrant, intelligent, interesting outdoorsy folks... the kind that we all know or could easilly have known. Unthinkably tragic. Condolances to the family. Quote
JoshK Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 It is fucking hilarious how many people are stupid enough to decide that carrying a gun is nescessary in the woods after reading something like this. Yeah, it's totally fucked up, but in no way is it a comment on the overall threats on the backcountry. I think i'm gonna keep on taking my chances... Quote
Couloir Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 (edited) Not solved, but it's something. Edited July 28, 2006 by Couloir Quote
Eerie Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Ha Ha, I'm sure the Sierra Club advocates all it's members to carry guns when out hiking in their beloved wilderness - at least I'm sure they will soon . Not to make light of the situation this thread started about. I feel terrible that something like this can and did happen. Quote
Jason_Martin Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 I grew up two houses away from the two women who were murdered. They have been family friends since I was 13. This is an utterly terrible loss...there really is nothing more senseless than taking a person´s life... Jason Quote
