Karl_Manzer Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 Does anyone know if there have been any recent atempts on the NE buttress or East Face of Steinbok? By recent I mean since the Edwards-Spagnut route in 94. Thanks in advance, Karl Quote
layton Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 I don't think so. Give it a try, it's a beautiful line. Check access regarding the road/key/logging camp etc before you go. Quote
layton Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 (i have a copy of the key...if it still works) Quote
G-spotter Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 the camp is gone but both gates are locked i know sean easton attempted the east face around 2000. Quote
Karl_Manzer Posted June 20, 2006 Author Posted June 20, 2006 Thanks Dru, Do you know if Sean was sucsessful on the East face? Also do you know if John Black and Chris Rowe ever finished a route on the Winslow Wall? Karl Quote
G-spotter Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 I think Sean said the rock turned very bad partway up (around the highpoint of Burdo-Doorish) Winslow Wall might have been finished off, you should ask John Black directly. Rob Richards also climbed a couple routes in the Stave but I don't know any details aside from what is on the map in the logging camp office. Stemalot Steve and Reinhard Fabische tried the main buttres at the right edge of WinslowWall last summer and barely escaped with their lives.. Stemalot can tell you the story when he gets back from euroland. Quote
