Lix Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 Yeah, whatever, made you look. Anybody have some notion of the timing needed to ski the Cooper Spur right now? Just rolled into Portland from Utah and have no idea (insert Utah joke here) what conditions are like - only that there is a big mountain just east of here that has lots of snow on it. It boils down to the idea of not wanting to get up to the summit at dawn and having to wait for hours on the summit for things to soften up - or maybe it never gets that warm up therethis time of year, WTF do I know? Also wondering how far up the road (Cloud Cap Rd?) you can drive. Quote
skykilo Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 I doubt it's hit a melt/freeze corn cycle yet, but I'm sure it's getting sun. I'd say get up there early, on top not too long after sunrise. Wait if it needs to soften. The road probably isn't open. There are a few pictures from a Cooper Spur ski descent here. Quote
Couloir Posted April 27, 2006 Posted April 27, 2006 You could always climb the S Side then come down Cooper Spur. Not the best idea if you've never been there before. But you did say extreme. Then you could have a car meet you at the gate. It's mostly downhill from the summit anyway. Just a thought. Quote
