Rainier GPS Map for Garmin

My good friend is lending me his Garmin GPS, I just checked on their website for a map to load onto it and all they offer is a Western US set for $116!! All I need is Rainier for now. Anyone know of other company that has maps you can load onto these units that may be less $$$ and more specific to Rainier NP?

National Geographic has Nat Park series, one includes Rainier, less than $50, downloadable to your GPS, try www.topo.com

No other companies maps.. including the National Geographic Topo listed can be downloaded to a Garmin(or any other brand for that matter) GPS. You are locked into the mapping software from that company if you want the topographic features loaded into the GPS. Probably be best to pick up a copy of Mapsource Topo off of eBay, it's a non-locked product so you don't have to worry about activation or anything like you would with later versions(like City Select), plus it's actually oriented towards topographic features, and not roads so for most outdoor activites it's a better chunk of software anyways.

Its been so long since I purchased my Garmin I'd forgotten only Garmin products work, Garmin has a Mapsource/National Parks West, includes Rainier.

Mapsource (Garmin) has a 24,000 series for national parks west which includes Rainier and the grneral Topo series that covers the us in 125,000 resolution. For a gps I think the general series is all you really need. You used to be able to get them on Kazza but things are a bit tighter now. On rainier what you really care about are crevasses and they do not show up on either. You can mark your trail fine with the 125,000's.
