Flying_Ned
Been long considering a west approach from Trapper Pass (described as North Peak route 3 in the 3rd edition). I'll be going up there to recon the route to the ridge as a soon as the road melts out. Just wondering if anyone has been on North Ridge 3 or dropped into the Great Basin from this approach. Thanks. greywolf
The new climbers guide will be out in about a month with a greatly improved writeup on this route. I was on the 1970 climb and quite familiar with the 10hours up and 10 down. Probably alittle better on the approach now tho.
Macson
Amazon emailed yesterday that the 4th edition shipped.
OlympicMtnBoy
What? Why can't I find it on Amazon? They only list the old one when I look. Post a URL for me. :-)
OlympicMtnBoy
Doh, found it. Had to look for Olympic Mountains: A Climbing Guide.
Macson
Actually, I just received it. Haven't had much of a chance to look it over, but the new sport climbing section looks pretty nice. Good work OMR!
CPOly
I second that. I just got it today but haven't had much time to go over it. Looks pretty sweet though! Nice work OMR.
ForrestCL
Here is a shot of the brothers from the east just beyond trap pass. Photo was taken on April 22, 2006. The road is blocked by a fairly large fallen tree about 5 miles before the pass. Â
bremerton_john
Nice pic ForrestCL. Were you up there just hiking the forest road, or on your way to someplace in particular?
magellan
Ned, if you go please report back here what you find.
ForrestCL
I've been up there a few times this year cross-country skiing up the road. Just checking out the area and possible routes to do. Good views of Mt. Washington, Constance, and the Brothers.
bremerton_john
OK. It's been suggested before that Trap Pass is a potential way in to do St. Peter's Dome. That piece of rock is a tough little bugger to get to.
