DirtyHarry
Cheap motel in Littlewet will be well worth your $20 US
Dru
You can camp right in Marble Canyon but it's easily 40 minutes of driving to the nearest pub.
verticalwanderer
mmmmmm......I havn't been up there before and am driving up tonight.....Looking at the guide book, it seems that Marble Canyon is the best bet for a full day of varied climbing...leadable WI3/4 and topropable WI5. Then maybe hit Rambles on the way home? What do you guys think?
Dru
Ya but you should plan in staying in a Lillooet motel tomorrow night instead of camping at the Canyon. Camping there tonight is OK but the area gets no sunshine so you will suffer all day before warming up at the pub in the evening.
verticalwanderer
That sounds like a damn fine plan.....what was that $20 motel you mentioned DH? Can you drive right up to where you camp in the canyon? Anybody going to care if we have a fire?
Dru
There is a campground, which is free in the winter time, at the Marble Canyon parking lot. But there will be no wood so you should bring your own wood. B/c it is in a Provincial Park gathering firewood from the forest is illegal. Please use the existing campfire rings. The pump has probably frozen so you should plan on bringing all your own water too. Drinking water from the Icy Bc falls has allegedly given someone giardia. verticalwanderer
Sweet.....thanks much for all the beta. You going to be around up there this weekend? I would like to buy you a beer as a small token of thanks.
verticalwanderer
Also, comming from Seattle, it looks faster to go through Hope and up the 12 instead of the 99. Is this right?
Dru
Yeah, take I5 to B'ham, go across border at Aldergrove, then highway 1 to Lytton and Highway 12 to Lillooet. HOWEVER it is faster to get to Marble Canyon by driving Highway 1 to Cache Creek then Highway 99 to Marble (ie approach from the east rather than from Lillooet) I'm not going to be up there. I am going to be exploring more locally.
