jhallster Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 I am planning a trip this Saturday snowmobiling into White River Campground the taking off from there. I was considering going up the wonderland and out onto Burroughs then dropping into Glacier basin at some point, maybe even try to stay high all the way to Schurman. Ive climbed from this route in the spring but never been up there on a tour. Does anyone have any route notes or just good ideas?? Quote
RocNoggin Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 what are the rules regarding snowmobiling in the Park? I didnt know that you could use them. is it OK as long as you stay on the roads? Quote
Ireneo_Funes Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 According to the NPS , you can ride your snowmobile on certain roads in Rainier National Park. Which I think is a shame, but whatever. Quote
Punter Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 Yeah, it's too bad that they let people in there in the first place much less laid asphalt roads all over the place in a NP. Hopefully one day they'll build a fence around the entire thing to keep those pesky Vibram sole prints from being such an eyesore. Quote
jhallster Posted December 17, 2005 Author Posted December 17, 2005 Don't worry.....I use a green snowmobile. I may try to snowmobile up to Sunrise and maybe past if the conditions are good. Why ski boring stuff if I can get to the good stuff faster. Don't worry, I'll try not to emit too many fumes. Wave hello if you see me. Quote
knelson Posted December 17, 2005 Posted December 17, 2005 I may try to snowmobile up to Sunrise and maybe past if the conditions are good. Think this is probably a troll, but if not... snowmobiles are only allowed on the White River Rd up to the White River Campground. Sunrise is past that. Might want to rethink that plan. Assuming that someone else up there sees snowmobile tracks heading towards Sunrise, and sees this thread, I'm thinking that you'll be receiving the "personal visit from a ranger treat" that only certain cc.com members are priviledged to experience. Just a thought. -kurt Quote
