sweatinoutliquor
Ha! Yup, only in this country!
Stonehead
The realization is that there are various 'interests' who express their agenda through the vehicle of the Presidency and that the President appears much more as a figurehead of his Administration. He who has the ears of the king is more powerful than the king. I thought this when Ronald Reagan was President. How fitting was it that a former actor became the Chief Executive of this country? sweatinoutliquor
Sorry Stonehead, I'm not smart enough to reply to this. I mean, I understand that you are talking about ears, and I really like your burning dude avatar, but I think I am lost on this one. Are you saying that the President's job is more about representing his administrations (ie. economic, agricultural, health, and all that other stuff) views, rather than being the one who makes choices himself? I would agree with that I suppose... Sorry, I shouldn't have even tried on this one. Shut up SOL before everyone realizes your an idiot! Stonehead
Wow, you're really tough! Wouldn't you agree that there's a degree of difference in how 'hands-on' a President is, e.g., Clinton vs. Bush?
sweatinoutliquor
Okay, walk me through it... (I had a rough night, okay!). Clinton and Bush. Hands on... Okay. Seeing a difference. (imagine how good my thesis writing is going right now...)
Stonehead
I mean, just watching that video, seeing actual footage of Bush, even though it's a parody...makes me realize that there are varying degrees of intellect that play into his role. It's not just force of personality that injects one person's influence into what becomes policy or the presentation of that policy. For example, it's my impression that Clinton appears to have personally grappled with some the issues (insert joke here about him grappling and being hands-on). In contrast, Bush appears to be barely articulate and if that is any indication of his ability to advance ideas, then...do you see where I'm coming from? How the hell do some of these guys get there? What if something had happened to G.H.W. Bush and Quayle had become President?
fear_and_greed
Now that's funny. That slack jawwed yokel couldn't be trusted to organize a company picnic let alone have his finger on the nuclear button.
