I don't think that CBS was trying to be rude or offensive... I had never heard of this as an early warning symptom, and last night my housemate told me a story about a near death experience where one of his caving partners reconized the "rosy cheeks" and symptoms allowing them to get out of what could have been a bad situation. Glad to know about it... That stuff scares me. snugtop.gif

Carbon dioxide is the gas that triggers our brains to make us breathe. If it builds up, we feel like we are suffocating. Carbon monoxide doesn't have this same effect, but it displaces oxygen from hemoglobin, and in fact binds more tightly than oxygen itself. When you are being poisoned by CO, you are not aware of a sensation of suffocation. You may feel a headache however before you lapse into unconsciousness.
