sir_vent Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 I was eyeing this route while on the coleman-deming and while climbing around on the coleman seracs. Does anyone know if the route is possible right now? Thanks. Quote
JoshK Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 To use the common answer on this thread: pretty much anything is possible. Whether the route "goes" or not is up to you and how much work and difficulty you are willing to take on. I have never climbed the headwall, but I can imagine there would be a great deal of weaving and climbing in and out of slots at this point in the year, not to mention some pretty rock-hard ice. Quote
bcollins Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 Yea the route is possible but as Josh said, it's a mess. Approached the route for an attempt last Sat. (9/3) Negotiated a route through the coleman glacier with considerable difficulty, only to bail when seeing the route close up. Looked like 2-3 major schrund type features and alot of hard ice. I'd say it's doable but the appoach eats up time. Let me know if anyone wants specific glacier approach beta. Barry Quote
