SandPounder Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005 Does anyone know how to find the Salem, Oregon boulders? Quote
pete_a Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 I am assuming that you saw that line in the 'Rock and Road' atlas mentioning some obscure Salem boulders... I grew up in Salem and never saw any chunk of rock even close to being large enough to climb on in town. I think that info must've made its way into that book without any real research to find out if such a place exists. Your best bet for climbing in Salem will be to find a way to use the Willamette University's athletic center and their sad little rock wall (if they still have it...its been nine years since I've lived there). Drederek Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 C'mon Pete theres lots of Boulders behind Freddy's on So. Commercial. Well there were 35 years ago anyway. Quote
pete_a Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 haha, alright...maybe when I was a kid those orangy boulders back behind the store on Commercial St. would've seemed like a bouldering worthy destination...but those are actually gone now, theres a driveway 'round back of the store...the last of the salem boulders are gone... Drederek Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 Damn! Did they take down the rope swing... er flagpole next to front steps of the capitol too? Quote
shapp Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 I believe that the salem boulders and renton crag are in the same higher dimensional plain predicted by String or M theory Quote
