markv Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 The subject pretty much asks my question already. Will be in Seattle in early October, and wondering about Glacier...road access likely to still be snow-free? Approach trails buried under 10 feet of snow already? Avalanche conditions? I wish i could get out there a month earlier, but this is my only chance. Quote
layton Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 it could snow but not enough to shut you or the road down. rain more likely than anything...or crisp clear sunshine. who knows. you'll probably get fucked, but that's just the odds on most things in life....sometimes a good thing, but most times not so much. Kraken Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 I was just on the North Sauk Trail up to Whitechuck and it was good weather. Everything up there is great. October might be close, but you could routefind and do it with little problem if weather was good and snow was still low. good luck. Quote
Crux Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 From N. Fk Sauk to White Pass, then directly to draw of White Chuck glacier...then walk over the ice to the Glacier Gap and then up... was interesting in late Sept, expansive Wilderness... Quote
