111 Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 Has anyone been up on Jeffy in the last couple weeks? What are the snow conditions like up there? Also any route suggestions for an easy or moderate route up? Any particular cautions? I am going with some friends who are reasonably experienced by haven't done Jefferson before and neither have I. mtnmedic Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 From what I got a look at yesterday not much. Temps have been in the 90's. Watcha' thinkin' about doin'? Quote
Chriznitch Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 there aren't any "easy" routes to the summit since the pinnacle is an unavoidable crux... routes up the south ridges are the easiest ways to the pinnacle's base, but to summit you must either climb loose class 5 rock or traverse around the pinnacle on exposed choss to the 4th class line up to the tip Quote
111 Posted July 21, 2005 Author Posted July 21, 2005 wonderful, I am aware of the pinnacle climb, just was concerned with more of the approach and if it is snowy at all. We are planning on cruising up the 5th class rock/choss/crumbly-shit. I am guessing the rock is the same quality as the rest of the cascade volcanos? Thanks for the info and a TR is up and coming... Chriznitch Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 We are planning on cruising up the 5th class rock/choss/crumbly-shit well good luck--not many people climb the pinnacle from the east, south, or west sides but it's certainly not unheard of... here's a view looking south from the summit in ideal (spring) conditions: Quote
111 Posted July 23, 2005 Author Posted July 23, 2005 we are going to cruise the whitewater glacier or Jeff Park, not sure yet. great photo/cool ice! when was it taken? Quote
Chriznitch Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 late June, 2004. have a safe climb and watch out for rockfall! Quote
John Frieh Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 Just so you know east side of Jefferson is considered part of the Indian Res and is off limits to climbing. Your call to make... Jefferson in late July? Quote
