Geoffo Posted July 8, 2001 Posted July 8, 2001 I'm a teacher and I took some of my students on Ruth Mountain this past week. If there isn't a better climb to inspire some new new climbers! The views of Shuckson are intense, with a closeup view of Nooksack tower. Also from the saddle before the Ruth glacier Baker is framed in another saddle in the opposite ridge. It's not a hard climb by any means but well worth it. The lower meadows had some nice friendly black bears, campsite have a Japanese garden feel to them.....Hike it, ski it, can't miss this climb! To_The_Top Posted July 9, 2001 Posted July 9, 2001 I agree it is a great intro, I have taken first timer friends up there, and it has good views of Challenger and Icy Peak too.TTT Quote
Kyle Posted July 10, 2001 Posted July 10, 2001 I hiked up Ruth last weekend with some non-climbing buddies. Easy but way fun, and you're rewarded with awesome views of the Picketts/NoCascs from the summit. There's a crevasse ~ halfway up the final slope that's just starting to open up, but is easily avoided. Quote
