obsydian Posted March 17, 2005 Posted March 17, 2005 Wanting to do the Douglas Glacier route on Logan later this spring, only found a sketchy paragraph or two on the subject, anyone have beta on the route, pictures? Thanks! Quote
Off_White Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005 We went in over Easy Pass, down Fisher Creek to the stream that drains off the Douglas Glacier. Up that valley, on the left side in slowly thickening forest & brush, across an alder flat, up a bear trail on the first headwall just left of the stream, then a diagonal brush ramp left to right gets up the second headwall and onto the glacier below Thunder Peak. It's a great area, long day in. (we hiked up Easy Pass in late afternoon shade, slept in Fisher Creek, and finished the next day, made it a pretty comfortable approach) Douglas Glacier may be pretty broken up this year. Quote
forrest_m Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 skied it over memorial day a few years ago. see trip report Quote
AllYouCanEat Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 Way to get after it forrest! I'm gonna have to get out there. Quote
Skeezix Posted March 24, 2005 Posted March 24, 2005 I've done the Banded Glacier route from that Easy Pass/Fisher Creek approach. You climb up out of Fisher E of the creek that drains the lake N of the toe of the Banded. By approaching to the lake in one day from Easy Pass, we did Logan as an overnight trip. That lake, however, is possibly the BUGGIEST place in the North Cascades!! OMFG! The HORROR!! Quote
